Fall Break! Time to get caught up on some things!

Hello All,

If you're on Fall Break I hope you are taking some me time. Time to relax but time for something enjoyable as well.

I am using my break to add some products I had finished but didn't get in the store yet as well as put some newly created things in the store. I figured after I got them added I would have a Fall Sale. So, keep tuned in to see when the sale is coming up!

I made some more clip cards. My students just really enjoy using these. They like that they can self-check their answers and instantly check their work! All you have to do is put a sticker behind the right answer before you laminate them. These are easy to print, laminate and cut out. All you have to do is add the clothes pins. I am going to have to remember to go to the Dollar Tree and get some more. I already went and although I spent $25 it didn't include those.

So, here's the preview:

Click the preview to be taken to the store!  I am trying something new. It is 50% off for 24 hours. So, now until 8:30 tomorrow p.m. it will be 50% off. That means you can get it for $1.50. Normally, it is only $3.00.  Hurry before the flash sale is over!

Hope your kids enjoy their "time" with this activity. Sorry I couldn't refuse the pun. Now, I have to go put that on sale before I forget! Let me know what you think about this activity and how you use it in your class.

Take care and Happy Fall Ya'll!

Get them out of their seats!

Hello All,

Hope you're enjoying your summer! I'm trying to get a few more things completed for my school year coming up. I found several things I started but hadn't finished so I'm trying to get those done first.

One thing I found was a Fractional Parts Scoot.  It's important to know that students are understanding that a fraction is part of a whole and that the fractional part you are concerned with becomes the numerator and the parts of the whole are represented as the denominator. Sounds basic but a lack of this understanding will be a barrier to students moving further with comparing and making equivalent fractions in 3rd grades on up. So, that's why this activity is a great way to assess their understanding in 1st and 2nd grades after teaching about these subjects. But it will also be critical before you go further in fractions to make sure those 3rd graders do understand it.

I love SCOOTS. They let the kids get up out of their seats and walk around. It's fun and engaging and they don't even look at it as learning. They'll do this time and time again. They are versatile too because you can put them in a learning center as traditional task cards. Put a sticker with the answer the back before you laminate and they are self-checking!

You'll want these you can use them for years to come!! Click the picture to go to my store! This is very reasonably priced!

There are 25 cards. Set includes a recording sheet and an answer

Love to hear your comments. How do you use Scoot and task cards in your class?

Have a great summer!

My Summer Book Study, The Book Whisperer

Hello All,

I'm probably behind the rest of you about reading this book. I have heard good things about it but had never read it. So, this summer I decided to get it and read through it.

It seems that many of our economically disadvantaged students start off below what is expected with language skills and they keep struggling no matter the intervention or instruction they get. So, what is it that will help close this gap. I am not sure that this book is the answer but I don't think it could hurt.

Here's one quote from the book I saw on goodreads. It makes sense and I am hopeful for what I will learn and be inspired by reading this book.

“I need to put forward more encouraging terms for my students than the negative popular terminology struggling and reluctant. Where is the hope in these terms? I prefer to use positive language to identify the readers in my classes. Peeking into my classroom, I see sixty different readers with individual reading preferences and abilities, but I consistently recognize three trends: developing readers, dormant readers, and underground readers.”
― Donalyn MillerThe Book Whisperer: Awakening the Inner Reader in Every Child

So, have you read the book?  Share your thoughts whether you have read it or not in the comments. I would love to discuss it with you.

Have a great day!

Calling all Kindergarten Teachers!!

Hey Everyone!

I am really excited to use this activity with my KK babies next year. As an instructional resource teacher that does pullout sometimes groups overlap. I have to come up with activities that even the lowest ability students can use. I made these clip cards for beginning consonant sounds. Here's a video preview of several slides.

This will be great for my KK babies next year. I think it will be great for your students too. Make the cards self-checking by putting a sticker on the back of the picture that is correct before you laminate. Students can practice their initial sound consonants or work with a partner. You can use for early finishers or use them in a Literacy Center.

I think your struggling firsties could use these and a great review for the beginning of the year.

Click the preview above to go to my TPT store to get this great product!!!

I am trying to give away a FREEBIE on my facebook page. If you have not like it go to my FACEBOOK page (click the words) and like it. When I get 100 likes I will be having a flash freebie. I've got another clip card product I just finished. I'm holding off because I think it would make a great FREEBIE! Who doesn't like a freebie?

What are you up to this summer?  So, any products you are just really needing or wanting? Leave me a comment. I can always use an idea or two!

Have a great day!
